Polyester webbing offers many great features. Its ultra violet (UV) resistance is excellent making it the choice for outdoor applications. Additionally it has very low stretch, excellent abrasion resistance, great strength and does not absorb much water. Polyester webbing has a melting point of 500°F. Our polyester webbing is NOT load rated and should never be used for life safety or overhead lifting applications.
DuPont calls polyester "Dacron" (no, our webbing is not made from DuPont's materials) which has long been the material for sailboat sails and rigging. Quoting from one of the online encyclopedias, "Dacron is a condensation polymer obtained from ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid. Its properties include high tensile strength, high resistance to stretching, both wet and dry, and good resistance to degradation by chemical bleaches and to abrasion. The continuous filament yarn is used in curtains, dress fabrics, high-pressure fire hoses, men's shirts, and thread. The staple fiber is ideal for mixing with wool in men's and women's suits, as well as in dress fabrics, knitted wear, and washable woven sportswear". I guess they are bringing up the "leisure suit", glad that is ancient history!
We offer black in ¾", 1" and 2" widths, white in 1" width. Most polyester webbing comes in 100 yard rolls which can have up to two (2) splices. We sell webbing by the foot and if you need a number of pieces the same length we have the ability in-house to provide cutting using an automated hot cutting machine for a nominal charge.
