Many sizes of standard grommets are available in a self-piercing configuration which will work on our #549 polypropylene. For use with other webbing testing is required but it is safe to say that hole punching will always be required with any heavyweight webbing.

Spur grommets are designed for use in heavy stress application such as tarps and awnings. When used with webbing they all require pre-punching a hole. Their dimensions are slightly different than standard grommets.

To install a grommet there needs to be a hole in the material for the neck of the grommet. The hole can get there in several different ways:
